I took this aerial from my friend Larry's helicopter last year in May. As you can see it is a beautiful little harbor on a very special island in the Outer Banks chain on the coast of North Carolina.
It looks so peaceful in the afternoon sun. But in September the worst storm in the resident's living memory hit and severely flooded the island. After a long clean up the island is once again open.
No doubt the tight knit hardy community is coming back, as Outer Bankers always have.
